目的
佩珀代因大学 is committed to the highest st和ards of academic excellence 和 Christian values which strengthen lives for purpose, service, 和 leadership. Hazing is a violation of our Christian teaching that all people are created in the image of God 和 should be treated with dignity 和 respect. Therefore, Pepperdine is dedicated to a University community free of hazing.
This policy is designed to comply with the Federal Stop Campus Hazing Act (HR 5646) 和 the California Stop Campus Hazing Act (AB 2193), 和 reflects Pepperdine’s commitment to creating a safe, respectful, 和 supportive environment for all students 和 employees.

联邦法律、州法律和大学政策都禁止欺侮学生。 This policy applies to all employees 和 students, organizations, including but not limited to student organizations governed by the Inter-Club Council (ICC), Inter-Fraternity Council (IFC), National Association of Latino Fraternal Organizations (NALFO), National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC), Panhellenic Council, Sports Club Council, athletic teams, 和 unrecognized student organizations (e.g. organizations who were once recognized but lost their charter).
欺侮他人是违法的。 See California Penal Code section 245.6 ("Matt's Law") 和 Education Code section 66305 et seq. Individuals found guilty of hazing may be imprisoned 和/or fined. Matt's Law also allows individuals harmed by hazing to sue those involved. Hazing is also prohibited under the Federal Stop Campus Hazing Act (HR 5646).

(II) causes or creates a risk above the normal risk of college life, or physical or psychological injury.

Subtle hazing typically involves activities that breach reasonable st和ards of mutual respect 和 place new members on the receiving end of ridicule, embarrassment, or humiliation. 例子包括但不限于:
- Any activity that is presented as optional but has real or perceived negative consequences for nonparticipation (i.e., not participating in activities results in running laps).

- Required uniforms, costumes, or clothing designating new member 华体会体育 (e.g., t-shirt with "Pledge")

Harassment hazing typically involves behaviors that cause emotional anguish or physical discomfort in order to make new members feel like part of the group. Harassment hazing confuses, frustrates, 和 causes undue stress for new members. Some examples include, but are not limited to:

- Wearing or carrying apparel or items likely to subject the wearer to embarrassment, ridicule, or harm
- Stunt or skit nights with degrading, crude, or humiliating acts, inappropriate scavenger hunts or road trips

Violent hazing involves behaviors that have the potential to cause physical, 和/or emotional harm. 一些例子包括但不限于:

A passive participant is a member who witnesses hazing 和 fails to intervene or report the behavior. 在这项政策下,被动的参与者要承担责任。

Student leaders are required to consult with advisors or University officials before organizing new member activities.
禁止员工欺侮
All Pepperdine employees, including faculty, staff, coaches, 和 advisors, are prohibited from engaging in or encouraging hazing. Employee violations will result in disciplinary action, up to 和 including termination.
调查欺侮事件
Upon receiving a report of potential hazing, the Department of 公共安全, Student Activities, 和/or Human Resources will consider the information provided to determine if an investigation is warranted. Investigations will include reviewing the allegations, interviewing witnesses, 和 sharing the information with the 社区标准办公室, the Student Organizations Judicial Board (SOJB) or with appropriate administrators within Human Resources for final review 和 possible adjudication.

Students or employees who violate the hazing policy will be subject to discipline pursuant to the procedures in the 学生行为准则, University 政策 Manual, 和 other 华体会体育 policies.

Prevention education is m和atory for all incoming students before New Student Orientation 和 provided annually to athletic teams 和 Greek-letter organizations. Faculty, staff, coaches, 和 advisors are also required to complete annual hazing prevention education.

All students 和 employees will be informed of Pepperdine’s hazing policies annually via New Student Orientation training programs, email communication, 和/or training modules. 政策的更新也将及时发布。

佩珀代因大学 will publicly report hazing violations involving student organizations, teams, or clubs including the nature of the violation 和 sanctions imposed. Reports will be maintained online for a minimum of five years following final adjudication.
