The 属灵生活中心 was established as a framework of ministries for Pepperdine students to explore their faith and community. Introduced by President Jim Gash in 2021, “the Hub” offers programs, training, and resources as a means to integrate Christianity into every aspect of life on campus, from academics to relationships. Jesus modeled an open-arms approach to life and faith, a philosophy Gash wanted to emulate on campus.

The Hub is a place where students can collaborate, worship, connect, and serve—a “hub” where students extend hospitality in the name of Jesus to provide space for asking hard questions, finding a spiritual mentor, and engaging in ministry.

One of the major changes that resulted from the establishment of the Hub was the restructuring of Seaver’s Convocation Series, now called 教堂. This required course creates meaningful gatherings for first- and second-year students to explore their faith and feel welcomed into the Pepperdine community. Though not required for third-and fourth-year students, upperclassmen have an opportunity to take an active role in the next steps of their spiritual journey through various Hub programs.
