As the chief academic officer of 佩珀代因大学, the provost is responsible
for the administration, coordination, and development of all academic activities and
functions of the University. The provost works with the deans of Pepperdine's undergraduate
college and graduate schools on all issues related to effective planning and management
of the University's academic resources. The provost also oversees critical University
departments each supporting student and faculty academic endeavors, including the

Media, and Sports, the Office of Institutional Effectiveness, the Office of the 注册商
and OneStop, the Office of 学生可访问性, and the Office of Research, Grants,
and Foundation Relations, Student Affairs, and University Libraries.

Jay Brewster began his term as Pepperdine's provost and chief academic officer on August 1, 2021. Brewster is a dedicated teacher, mentor, and nationally recognized scientist and scholar. He has supported more than 100 undergraduate researchers in Pepperdine programs including the National Science Foundation-funded Summer Undergraduate Research in Biology program, which he directed for several years.
